Happy Anniversary to FaithAndFI.com!

When we started this blog, we didn't know if it would work. We just bought the domain, re-routed it to this dinky Wix website, and started writing. We figured that for $12 (the cost of the domain) and the free Wix site, we'd give it a go. We've lost more money on much less, I'm sure.

Thinking back on our original mission, the goal has been to affect change in the Catholic Church in a positive way, and even to that end, we wanted to keep our blog as inclusive as possible for other Christian denominations. We wanted to make this blog personal to us, but also make it encouraging enough to the point where others would take action. We have always wanted the freedom to choose our path - to simply do the things we want to, and graciously bow out of things that don't sit right with us.

Even with this blog, we've considered the fact that if we thought our commitments to this blog we too big a burden, we'd stop doing it! Though it hasn't always been easy writing consistently each week, we've been proud of what we've accomplished so far. We're steadily making moves to get ourselves closer to our goals and we've been happy to write about them. In this last year, we've shared many of our ambitions for our future and thought of many more - this one in particular stands out in my mind:

In honor of All Saints' Day, I wanted to take some time to tell you about a "What If" situation we've been thinking about. Camilla and I have talked about striving to become saints. As Catholics, we believe that one of the highest honors a layperson can be given is the title of a saint after he/she has passed away. So... What if we set our sights on sainthood? What would we need to be doing and how might we achieve those goals? I think ultimately, we would want to be remembered as ordinary people living out our faith in extraordinary ways - and our main focus may as well be our passion for faith and finances.

For one, I think this blog is a great place to start. It has given us a foundation to write and share about our faith and finances. We care very deeply about making our church better through our stewardship and helping others find peace in their finances so they can focus on what really matters - their families, communities, and the church. So along with our goals of reaching financial independence, our newly added goal is sainthood. We have no idea how likely it'll be, but hey - it's the most worthy goal we can strive for. Besides - "The Patron Saints of Financial Independence" has a nice ring to it, right? haha

It's been quite a year, but we're just getting started. We have a lot in store for this blog in the future, so we hope you keep joining with us every week. We'd love to learn more from you if you have knowledge to share, but otherwise - we'd like to know about you and where you are on your journey. Thank you so much for reading out little blog - we love you so much.

Happily yours,

Khang and Camilla
